As you start to research safe cities for solo female travelers, you’ll see a lot of the Scandinavian countries pop up. They tend to be clean, safe, and put people at ease. Norway is certainly one of them, especially if you head to Bergen, Ålesund, or Stavanger. They’re colorful; they’re beautiful; they’re stocked with local shops and cafes. And, most of all, the beauty is staggering when you consider all the forests and fjords around you.
Bergen makes a nice base because you have so much going on down at the harbor. You can take boat rides through the fjords during the day and then dine on some of the freshest seafood of your life at the Fish Market at night. It’s a lovely city with so much to see and do – and it will put you right at ease the moment you arrive.
